Inspired (at least ired!) by my experience of being cited by a Portland Parking person for being double parked for 45 seconds to pick up a pie - on a street riddled with sidewalk camping, where some half naked guy was yelling obscenities at passers by, and trash was everywhere and where I'd passed someone getting ready to shoot up right on the sidewalk.
It is terrible. I don't even go anywhere near downtown any more, after all I've heard about the chaos and violence and the inability / unwillingness of the police to do anything about it.
Where Portland went off the rails was when during the Black Lives Matter protests, the leadership of the city couldn't distinguish manhandling young black men going abut their lives, from arresting young white men in black clothing bent on nothing but destruction.
