Cognitive Dissonance

3 comments:

  1. It can be argued that the vast majority of our ground force equipment was designed and built to either deter Russia or defeat it, if it ever came to that. Most of it is of little use against our other peer rival, China (naval and air forces more likely to be leveraged). So expending it in Ukraine to keep the Russians from dominating Europe is not leaving us vulnerable. Just the opposite. The equipment is, sadly, doing what it was designed to do.

  2. The direct aid we're giving Ukraine is equivalent to something like six percent of the total defense budget. If we can take down Russia as a major power for that, it will be the bargain of the century. The world owes the Ukrainians big time -- the West is supplying a lot of the weapons, but they're doing the actual fighting.
