Years ago, when I read 'The Winds of War' I wondered if I would have seen the signs of the boiling frog and left Europe unlike the character Aaron Jastrow. I'm sadly reminded of that now. For most of the last 25 years, I've studied and designed complex knowledge systems and investigated how 'oscillations' can occur which build until the system fails.
I see a lot that looks like that now. I hope I'm wrong but a lot of what I see in this country could be classified as a cascade failure. We may know soon enough.
