I think a lot of people believe that this graph should be a horizontal line for white people with a sloped line for blacks that is approaching the white one.
But I believe it's more likely that generations of incremental advantage (white privilege) has resulted in an exponential advantage for whites in socio-economics, education, legal rights, etc. Kind of like how Vegas works - enough people win a jackpot to make them believe in the fantasy while of course the house always wins in the end.
