Pliny's Inferno: Ninth Circle Of Hell

  1. On another site there was a defense of this sort of thing. I might believe it were it not for the fact that almost every time I see people speeding ahead to cut left at the last minute, it's happening at long-standing merge points and being done by locals, plus they cut in expecting the following car to break.

  2. So I guess I have a question: Do you believe that these people are reacting in light of a vigorous study of the fluid dynamics of highway traffic? Or are they just being assholes?

    1. Assholes, no question. There's a merge point like that less than half a mile from me, on the route home from the nearest grocery store and drugstore. Three times recently, cars that were behind me have come racing up on the right when there was barely room between my car and the sidewalk, then cut in front in a way that would have caused a crash if I hadn't hit the brakes in time. I've actually started going home by a slightly different route to avoid that merge point.

If any of these people know jack about fluid dynamics, I'm the king of Gondor. They definitely need to burn (or freeze) in Hell for all eternity.

    2. Well, maybe eternal damnation is a bit harsh - maybe 10 years in Purgatory - for each infraction!
